"The World's Own" Kenny Omega Debuts With New Japan Pro Wrestling

Posted on 01 Feb 2010 by PCW

TOKYO, JAPAN - The hottest Indy sensation on the planet continued his amazing international expansion, debuting with the legendary New Japan Pro Wresting promotion with a stunning and controversial tag team victory! PCW Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega and his partner Kota Ibushi defeated the famed team of Jado & Gedo by referee stoppage in front of a sold out crowd of nearly 2000 fans this past weekend!

The controversial ending to the match came following a freak occurrence of Jado & Gedo striking their heads resulting in an injury to Jado. He was removed from the arena on a stretcher and the match awarded to Kenny & Kota.

The match represented another huge step forward for "The World's Own" Kenny Omega as it was his debut with one of the largest wrestling promotions in the world. Omega had made his Japanese debut in 2008 challenging Kota in several phenomenal "Anywhere" matches. Their battles led to a profound level of respect and the two teamed up to capture the KO-D World Tag Team Championship, the top tag titles in Japan's Dramatic Dream Team promotion, on January 24th 2009. Omega would again challenge for those titles in the summer of 2009, teaming with PCW's Mike Angels in the semi-main event of DDT's biggest show in front of nearly ten thousand fans.

Kenny has taken the world by storm over the past couple of years. In addition to his stranglehold on the PCW Heavyweight Championship he has held since March 20th 2008, he recently won the prestigious Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Heavyweight Championship and Battle of Los Angeles tournament. He has been one of the most popular superstars in Ring of Honor, appearing regularly on their international television program on HDNet and challenging for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship.

Kenny continues his extended tour of Japan and is expected to return to Premier Championship Wrestling at Thunderstruck on Feb.18th 2010!
