Posted on 17 Feb 2010 by PCW PCW Heavyweight Championship Kenny Omega(c) vs "The Mexicutioner" Kraven Sicario At PCW's New Years Knockout, Dr. Kraven Sicario Phd. had his manager "The Illustrious" Mr Brooks issue a bold challenge to Kenny Omega and now the man himself has spoken for the first time ever! "The Mexicutioner" released a video statement, daring the PCW Heavyweight Champion to leave Japan and face him in the ring at Thunderstruck this Thursday Night! Kraven has been impressive since returning from an intense tour of Mexico last summer. Targeting Mike Angels, the man considered by many to be the measuring stick of talent in the country, the two of them engaged in a series of increasingly spectacular matches. The fact Angels came out on top infuriated the Mexican madman as his obsession with Angels, and making an immediate impact, grew. He attacked Antonio Scorpio Jr while the man was on crutches, contributing to his shattered ankle and the fact Scorpio has not been since in many months. He manipulated the situation between Angels and Commissioner Chris Stevens that resulted in Angels' suspension. And now, he has targeted Omega, accusing Angels of ducking him and vowing to make his "best friend" pay the price. An enigma since his debut, Kraven has shown flashes of brilliance. Since joining the Alliance of Defiance he has looked all the more impressive. Declaring himself a "Master of Psychology", Kraven has often utilized multiple monikers to attempt to intimidate his opponents. "El Ladron de Almos", "El Petrino", "The Inter-Galactic Superstar" and now "The Mexicutioner", Sicario is determined to inject the pride of Mexico into PCW. He's issued the challenge to Omega - will the champion accept? PCW Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega is currently in Japan on an extended tour where has competed for DDT and New Japan Pro Wrestling. The PWG World Heavyweight Champion is undoubtedly the best wrestler in Canada, the hottest indy sensation on the planet and a globe-trotting phenomenon. Will Kenny return to Winnipeg in time to answer Kraven's challenge at Thunderstruck? Will he be in any physical condition to withstand the onslaught of Kraven? And what will Mike Angels have to say about this development? PCW Canadian Championship Match "Average" Joe Dixon(c) vs "All World" Mike Angels One of the most anticipated matches rumoured to be in the works the past few months is now a reality as multiple-time former PCW Champion Mike Angels will challenge "Average" Joe Dixon for the PCW Canadian Championship at Thunderstruck on February 18th 2010 only at Dylans on Pembina! Arguably the number two contender in PCW, Mike Angels' strong 2009 ended early as a result of a controversial decision by Commissioner Chris Stevens to suspend him following Hellbound in November. In a wild melee with Kraven Sicario, Angels accidentally struck Stevens, but the Commissioner considered it a careless act and sent Angels' home for the rest of the year. Early in 2010, Director of Authority Jay Walker extended the suspension, removing Angels' from New Years Knockout and his PCW Canadian Championship match against Dixon, replacing him with his close friend Scott Justice. Angels had returned to PCW in April 2009 in a surprise reunion of Tag Sciences Faculty, teaming with then-PCW Canadian Champion "Priceless" Chad Tatum to defeat Adam Knight & JP Kaos. One month later, he beat Knight in singles competition to qualify for the 2009 Premier Cup Tournament. At that event, he put forth one of the greatest individual performances of all time, defeating Knight, Kenny Omega and El Generico to win the tournament. By virtue of his victory, Angels became number one contender and challenged Omega for the PCW Heavyweight Championship at Boiling Point. Shortly thereafter, Angels became the second PCW Superstar to sign with a major Japanese promotion when he joined Dramatic Dream Team for a summer tour. He returned to PCW and engaged in a thrilling feud with Kraven which has yet to come to a definitive end. At Hellbound, prior to his controversial suspension, Angels lost a close match to Robby Royce, a development that may have expedited the shocking break up of Team Impact. Angels will make his hotly anticipated return to PCW at Thunderstruck to challenge "Average" Joe Dixon as the competition for the Canadian Championship approaches a fevered pitch. Dixon has been unstoppable since vowing to prove something to the wrestling world in October 2008. Over the course of the past 15 months, he has been the winningest wrestler in the country, compiling an undefeated record and securing victories over such notables as Chad Tatum, Adam Knight, Mentallo, ATM and Nate Hardy en route to winning the PCW Canadian Championship in December. The suspension to Angels impacted Dixon also. As he prepared for the difficult task of facing Angels, the match was suddenly changed and he was forced to defend his title against the undefeated upstart rookie Scott Justice at New Years Knockout! Justice promised to capture the title and had already procured the actual championship belt, stealing it following Dixon's December victory and ruining his celebration. But it was the inspirational Dixon who once again over-came the odds and handed Justice his first career defeat. Post Match, former champion Chad Tatum handed Dixon the belt but made it clear he intended to regain the gold at the anniversary show in March. Tatum will face ATM at Thunderstruck in a number one contenders match. Though Dixon has shown a propensity to rise to the occasion and has defeated an impressive array of superstars, Angels may be the most decorated and successful former champion he will have to over-come to retain the PCW Canadian Championship. As a former Canadian Champion, Angels will certainly do everything he can to walk out of Thunderstruck with the title. PCW CDN Championship Number One Contenders Match "Priceless" Chad Tatum vs Anderson Tyson Moore The most sought after title in the country may very well be the PCW Canadian Championship and the competition for the gold is set to explode at Thunderstruck on Thursday February 18th 2010 at Dylans On Pembina! Current champion "Average" Joe Dixon will defend against 2009's Canadian break out performer Mike Angels while former champion "Priceless" Chad Tatum battles Anderson Tyson Moore in a number one contenders match! ATM and Tatum have very different but equally convincing motivations driving them to succeed in their contest on Thursday. Tatum has had a long successful career and has made no effort to hide the fact he may not have many matches left. One of the most decorated wrestlers in Canadian wrestling history, he's one of only two Grand Slam Champions in PCW, having captured the Junior, Tag Team, Canadian and Heavyweight Championships over his career. A title-holder in every promotion he has appeared, Tatum has excelled in both tag team and singles competition and made history with a record-shattering 574 day reign as Canadian Champion. It was a bittersweet 2009 for the priceless one. Entering the year as the greatest Canadian Champion of all time, Tatum appeared poised to continue his successful reign. An outside-the-ring shoulder injury was only the beginning of his problems however. His willingness to defend the title against all comers put him right in the middle of a burgeoning feud between the two best big men in the business, "Outlaw" Adam Knight and "Average" Joe Dixon. Fighting through injury and adversity, Tatum retained his title and the promise of a positive 2009 seemed within his grasp. As his personal life reached new heights of happiness due to his upcoming wedding, Tatum was the victim of a heinous assault outside his home in Brandon, Mb. Left beaten and battered in a pool of blood on his drive way, discovered by his wife and young daughter, Tatum suffered a concussion, broken nose and orbital bone and required several stitches. Even more shocking than the attack was the identity of the assailant - Adam Knight. Consumed with cementing his legacy, Knight saw Tatum as having achieved something he never could and set out to destroy him. Tatum refused to take any time off or use his mounting injuries as an excuse. But the separated shoulder, concussions, broken bones and psychological warfare took their toll and Tatum was defeated by Knight for the PCW Canadian Champion when he refused to quit and lost consciousness. Since that time, Tatum has become healthy and driven to regain what he believes was stolen from him. At New Years Knockout he gained a measure of revenge against Scott Justice and Jay Walker, defeating their bodyguard "The Business" Johnny Falcon and preventing an unfair advantage in Scott's title shot against Joe Dixon. Following that match, Tatum handed Dixon the belt but made it clear he wanted it back. The champion brushed him off pointing out he had beaten him before and if he earned a shot, he'd beat him again but he had to go through ATM to regain contention. Tatum has stated several times he does not know how many matches he has left in his magnificent career, but in this emotional video, he reveals he has been contemplating his future by examining his past and has created a hit list of goals he wants to accomplish before he's finished. Angry and determined, Tatum made it clear he wants revenge on Knight, wants to defeat Dixon and wants his Canadian Championship back. But he may be over-looking one important obstacle - Anderson Tyson Moore. ATM may be the most well-rounded competitor in central Canada having learned from such notables as legendary promoter Tony Condello, Don "Cyrus" Callis, Robby Royce and Adam Knight. He's long been considered a blue-chip singles prospect and has demonstrated an expertise at tag team wrestling. The 2005 Rookie of the Year has a plethora of awards to his credit, including three straight tag team of the year awards, three straight most improved wrestler of the year awards and was voted most hated man in wrestling for 2008, including being nominated for several more awards for 2009. He dominated the tag ranks with Royce before their partnership and friendship was decimated at Season's Beatings when ATM, at the behest of their manager "The Illustrious" TJ Brooks, attacked Royce. At New Years Knockout, ATM looked comfortable taking the match to "King of Old School" Steve Corino before they, along with Knight and Brooks, formed a new more dastardly Alliance of Defiance. Many have speculated that 2010 could be ATM's year and the time has come for him to live up to his advanced billing as a singles superstar. Facing Chad Tatum at Thunderstruck with the winner earning a PCW Canadian Championship match at the Anniversary Show provides the opportunity to accomplish that goal. But with Tatum determined to reclaim all he lost, it could be a very uphill battle for the self-professed "Sultan of Sleaze". PCW Junior Heavyweight Championship Tournament Considered by most to be the early cornerstone of PCW circa 2002-2003, the Junior Heavyweight Championship was retired by order of then-Commissioner Tom Manos to be replaced by an open weight Canadian Championship. The belt was unceremoniously dumped in a garbage can by the final Junior Champion, Antonio Scorpio Jr when he an his challenger Mentallo refused to compete in the final, meaningless title match. PCW's Director of Authority and Officiating Jay Walker made the controversial decision to re-activate the championship, citing the plethora of young superstars in the promotion who could embrace the division much like Rawskillz, Ryan Wood, Mentallo and Kenny Omega became the "face" of the title in 2002. Walker ordered an eight man tournament to determine a new champion with the quarter-finals and semi-finals to be held at Thunderstruck this Thursday Night. Confirmed as appearing in the tournament is the "Australian Playboy" Scott Justice, Walker's close personal friend. In fact, Justice has already stated he intends to capture the title to prove that anything Scorpio can do, he can do better. The other participants have been a well-guarded secret by Walker who has ordered the entire PCW roster to be on-hand and prepared to perform at Thunderstruck. He has refused to release official bracketing but several names have been bandied about as likely tournament participants: Prince Fuergo Jr - "The Flamboyant Flame of Mexican Pride" was confirmed as appearing in the tournament by Walker on the most recent episode of PCW's UNLEASHED audio program. Not a lot of background information has been revealed about Fuergo aside from Walker's assertion that he has trained with some of the greats of Mexican wrestling and appeared primarily in that country. He could be the sleeper contender of the tournament as none of the other participants would likely have any knowledge of his style or level of ability. He could catch some people by surprise. "The Suicide King" Nate Hardy - Though he never held the PCW Junior Heavyweight Championship during it's original lifetime, he was a regular contender for the title, challenging Scorpio several times. Nate is a two-time former PCW Canadian Champion and current CWF Canadian Champion and has embraced a high risk, high reward impactful athletic style. He would appear to be a natural for the tournament and his veteran expertise would seem to make him a favourite. Sir Bradley Charles - A leading contender for 2009 Rookie of the Year, SBC became an instant fan favourite upon making his debut. A graduate of Storm Wrestling Academy, he is well acquainted with Scott Justice. The royal guardian of King's Court, Kansas City, SBC holds a victory over the established Anderson Tyson Moore and would carry on the tradition established by Scorpio of a blue-chip rookie winning the Junior Championship should he prove victorious. Kory Kinkade - "He's Got The Touch" and perhaps a golden opportunity to propel himself up the ranks of PCW should he be included in the Junior Heavyweight Tournament. It may take some effort on his part to "make weight", but Kinkade should not be discounted by the other participants. He previously held the RME Cruiser weight Championship, defeating "Slick" Rick Matthews on May 29th 2004 and defended it successfully for several months. "Remarkable" Chris Marxwell - If included in the tournament, Marxwell may very well be the fan's choice as favourite. Since nearly upsetting Kenny Omega early in 2009, he has been on a role and exceptionally popular. Though working primarily has a tag team specialist the past several months with "Enforcer" JP Kaos, Marxwell's momentum may be the one thing that could put him over the top in the tournament. With Kaos watching his back, Marxwell could finally secure PCW gold. Several other superstars could easily be short-listed as likely candidates including Marty Labossier, Chat Tatum, The Brothers' Chee and a host of other non-PCW regular roster members who may want to compete for the prestigious Junior Heavyweight Championship. Could we see a blast from the past make a surprise appearance? Robby Royce Challenges Steve Corino! Robby Royce has made it official - he wants Steve Corino in the ring to finish their nearly decade-long issue and he wants him at the biggest event of the year, PCW's Eighth Anniversary Spectacular! No other feud in the country has ever had the intensity, personal issues, violence and longevity of Royce/Corino! It began on April 21st 2001 when Royce defeated Corino for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship. Only days later, Corino captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Things were quiet until August 4th 2005 when Corino defended the AWA World Heavyweight Championship against Royce at PCW's Beat The Summer Heat! "Mr Wrestling" avenged the loss of five years earlier, defeating Royce in a very bloody battle that had lasting ramifications. Several days later, Steve lost the AWA World Heavyweight Championship when the scars from his war in Winnipeg burst open and the Athletic Commission stopped the bout. Publicly, Corino didn't blame Royce, but privately, he seethed. He regained the title and returned to Winnipeg in December 2005 to face the then-PCW Heavyweight Champion Royce and NWA Canadian X Division Champion Rawskillz in a triple threat match. Royce and Corino fought all over the building, pushing eah other past the point of exhaustion allowing Skillz to secure the victory. In the years since, both Royce and Corino have publicly expressed respect and admiration for each other but it's been clear the issue of who's better has never gone away. As time passed, a resolution to that burning question seemed more and more unlikely to come to fruition. And the events of Season's Beatings seemed to have eliminated that possibility for good as Royce announced he had asked the "King of Old School" to return to Winnipeg to be his partner against the Alliance of Defiance at New Years Knockout! However, the aftermath of the first great event of 2010 set both men on an inevitable collision course to finally ending the war. Corino had some harsh words for Royce following New Years Knockout! Reminiscent of PCW's past epic events, Commencement of Cool and Culmination of Cool, Royce called it the "Culmination of Hate" and demanded Corino face him at the Eighth Anniversary Spectacular. He's given Corino until Thunderstruck to give him an answer... Will Steve Corino accept the challenge to engage in a battle ten years in the making? Find out at Thunderstruck! TJ Bratt Re-formulating His Master Plan? CW Legend "The Canadian Loose Cannon" TJ Bratt made a shocking return nearly five months ago and vowed to impart his considerable knowledge upon a young, unbridled future superstar. At the PCW Back to School Bash 2009, he said he had a plan that would become clear soon enough and promised the fans he was back to succeed! One month later, he shocked everyone, especially the PCW Tag Team Champions Team Impact and their challengers The Suicide Kings, by bringing out the 400 lb behemoth Sabertooth to cash in his open championship contract! But it would not be Bratt coming out of retirement to team with him. He brought out one of the most decorated tag team wrestlers of all time - the 400 lb German Juggernaut Moses Luke as Sabertooth's partner! 15 minutes later Bratt had guided the largest tag team in the world to a stunning victory! At a combined weight of 787 lbs, with 'Tooth's raw power, Luke's remarkable athleticism and Bratt's veteran experience, everyone assumed they'd be tag team champions as long as they wanted. But 'Tooth's relationship with the lovely Lacey continued to have a negative impact on the team. At New Years Knockout, he completely abandoned his tag title defense to ensure Lacey received medical attention, and they lost the gold. An irate Bratt and Moses issued a very stem warning to their wayward partner: Bratt may be employing a tough love approach to Sabertooth, but you can't argue with his veteran knowledge. PCW's former home venue The LID Nightclub was always referred to as "the house that Bratt built" and he became one of the most popular wrestlers in Manitoba independent wrestling history. When he returned to PCW last fall, he vowed to lead a young star to success. Sabertooth became that hand-picked protege. 'Tooth has been very popular with the fans since he debut and virtually unstoppable. Surprisingly, the only thing bigger than his 6'6", 400 lb body may be his heart. Since last summer, he has been a guardian angel of sorts to the young Lacey, angering her boyfriend Nate Hardy. Every time Lacey has been hurt or in danger, Sabertooth has been there. It would seem his feelings for her have taken a priority over the gold...which obviously does not sit well with Bratt & Moses or Nate. Will Sabertooth re-focus on tag team success and embrace the guidance of his mentor TJ Bratt? Perhaps we'll find out at Thunderstruck! Kenny Omega Career Announcement? The PCW heavyweight Champion is currently in Japan on a major, extended tour for DDT and New Japan Pro Wrestling, but is expected to fly home to appear at PCW's Thunderstruck. In addition to answering the challenge put forth by "The Mexicutioner" Kraven Sicario, Kenny has requested promo time to address all the great PCW fans.
