A Tale Of Two Careers That Promises A Classic When Veterans Collide At Season's Beatings!

WINNIPEG, MB - When Premier Championship Wrestling returns to Dylans on Pembina December 10th for Season's Beatings, "Average" Joe Dixon will look to cap a remarkable thirteen month dominant streak by winning his first career singles title.

Dixon will challenge "Outlaw" Adam Knight for the PCW Canadian Championship in a match that has already begun to take a turn to the personal as Knight took offense to what he perceived as Dixon's mocking of him at Hellbound. Some would argue, Dixon's eerily spot-on impersonation of the "Outlaw", complete with leather chaps, vest and cowboy hat, was simply in keeping with the spirit of the annual Halloween event. Dixon may have revealed his true intent with some rather disparaging remarks at that event, referring to Knight's long losing streak to start 2009.

The issues between the two men go a lot deeper than impersonations and angry words, however as both men were top contenders to the CDN title earlier in the year. The series of matches that surrounded then-champion "Priceless" Chad Tatum, frustrated Knight and cemented the re-invention of Dixon into a respected legitimate top quality superstar.

To fully understand Dixon's transformation, we must got back approximately ten years. At 6'3", 260+ lbs, athletic and confident, Dixon possessed all the tools to become a successful professional wrestler. Saddled with the "Sugardaddy" moniker and told to act like a pimp, he made the unfortunate "gimmick" his own and achieved a certain level of respect teaming with the then-gigolo JP Kaos. Moving on to PCW and leaving his partner behind, Dixon became one of the most popular "acts" to never win a championship as he rose up the ranks to the semi-main event as part of the Ukrainian Sex Mafia.

When the group disbanded, interest in the Sugardaddy waned but Dixon would unleash a new "persona" that would launch him into the history books as one of the most popular characters of all time. In September 2003, he entered the ring to virtual silence from an indifferent audience. By the time he left the ring, having announced he was "coming out of the closet" and planting an uncomfortably passionate kiss on then-ring announcer Andrew Shallcross, the fans were solidly on the side of the "Adorable One".

Over the next few years, "Adorable" David Dixon would be apart of many classic moments in PCW history including the infamous "Gay Date" with Greg Romijn, defeating Antonio Scorpio Jr in the first ever "Sex Toy on a Pole" Match (resulting in Scorpio having to wear a dress), taking Rawskillz to the limit in a fantastic match and several others. Incredibly popular, Dixon achieved career success, reuniting with JP Kaos to capture the PCW Tag Team Championship from Mike Angels & Chad Tatum in 2006.

It was as a tag team with Kaos that Dixon experienced the final "wake up" call in October 2008 that put him on the path to this upcoming moment with Adam Knight, who himself has taken an unusual road to the clash at Seasons Beatings.

October 30th 2008 took on different but equally compelling importance for both men. For Dixon, it was the beginning of a career resurgence. For Knight, it was the impetus for his wild desire to cement a legacy he felt was slipping away. At PCW's Hellbound 2008, Knight teamed with his Southern Comfort partner "Enforcer" JP Kaos in a losing effort in a Hardcore Match against PCW Tag Team Champions Team Impact.

At the same event, Dixon opened a lot of eyes with an inspired performance in a losing cause as he challenged PCW Canadian Champion "Priceless" Chad Tatum and Nate Hardy in a Triple Threat Match. There was no doubt in the minds of many that there was something deep within Dixon that would soon show itself in a surprising manner.

At Season's Beatings 2008, Dixon brutalized Scotty Raver. Post match, he told the fans he was sick of being a mid-card comedy act and was tired of hearing that he didn't spend enough time in the gym, didnt have a great tan and wasn't good enough. He said he might just be an average Joe, but he was going to show the world what an average Joe who just happens to be the best big-man wrestler in the province can really do.

Dixon seemed poised to make 2009 his own yet the jury was still out on the popular "Outlaw". Knight had missed Season's Beatings due to injuries sustained in the Hellbound main event, but returned at New Years Knockout! intent on getting Southern Comfort back into the tag team championship mix. It was not to be as they lost to the hot young team of The Suicide Kings. Meanwhile, Dixon proved his dismantling of Raver was no fluke, decimating both Chris Marxwell and Ludicrous in a Triple Threat Match and becoming wildly popular in the process.

February's Thunderstruck saw both men make major impacts, but in different ways. Knight faced Antonio Scorpio Jr in a heated match that hearkened back to their phenomenal feud in 2004 when a young Scorpio took the then-dominant PCW Heavyweight Champion to the limit. Knight had challenged Scorpio to the Thunderstruck match and attempted to assert his veteran dominance, only to be defeated by Scorpio as he continued his relentless pursuit of Kenny Omega.

It was a career month for Dixon who pinned two-time former PCW Heavyweight Champion, Grand Slam Champion, former Premier Cup winner and the man considered to be a PCW Legend, Mentallo! In a true test of Dixon's new found confidence, he challenged Mentallo, one month removed from a number one contender's loss to Scorpio and beat him decisively in the middle of the ring. The convincing victory solidified Dixon's march up the ladder of respect and legitimacy as he proved to many fans that when inspired, he was more than a match for top superstars with the success and veteran experience of Mentallo.

The combination of Knight losing to the new number one contender Antonio Scorpio Jr and Dixon defeating the number two contender Mentallo, put the two men on a collission course at PCW's Seventh Anniversary Spectacular in March as both jostled for contendership to Chad Tatum's title.

In the opening contest, Dixon and Knight faced off with the winner earning a title shot against Tatum later in the same show. It was a titanic struggle as the two largest men in PCW collided with a golden opportunity on the line. Continuing his climb up the ladder of respectability and proving his ability to hang with Mentallo was a reality, Dixon defeated Knight. An angry and frustrated "Outlaw" returned to make his presence known in the Canadian Championship match, attacking Dixon and marring a terrific contest.

The brutal attack at the hands of Knight would put Dixon on the shelf as he contemplated his future and set the "Outlaw" down a violent and shocking path. At PCW's Defiance April 1st, Knight got a second chance, facing Tatum for the CDN title but was unable to procure the championship as Tatum was victorious. Irate, Knight attacked and brutalized the champion, aggravating a serious shoulder injury and making it known he wanted the title to cement his legacy.

To many, the idea of Knight needing to do anything to cement a legacy would be ludicrous. Knight had long been one of the finest professional wrestlers in the Country, had won numerous championships including a long reign as PCW Heavyweight Champion and trained with All Japan Pro Wrestling. Any questioning of his ability or legitimacy would surely fall on deaf ears and simply be the nonsensical ramblings of the lesser intelligent. But in Knight's mind, he had fallen out of that vitally coveted top spot, was far removed from his days as Champion and was desperate to do something very few had done. To him, that meant joining the very elite club of PCW Triple Crown Champions, those who had won the PCW Heavyweight, Canadian and Tag Team Championships. Standing in his way was the very capable and longest reigning CDN Champion of all time.

At PCW's Highway To Hell 21 days later, Knight teamed with JP Kaos, perhaps for the last time, as he was determined to prove his superiority over Tatum in the tag team ranks. It was another disappointment for Knight as Tatum brought back his long-time Tag Sciences Faculty partner Mike Angels in a victorious effort. The loss seemed to push Knight over the edge and led him to commit and unthinkable act of chicanery and violence.

H2H was a return for Dixon as well, who surprised fans with an appearance to close out the show, congratulating the 400lb Behemoth Sabertooth on his Premier Rumble victory and recruiting him as a tag team partner for the Premier Cup Fatal Four Way PCW Tag Team Championship Match.

May 20th was PCW's High Voltage and conspicuous by his absence was Chad Tatum. It was later learned that he was viciously attacked in his drive-way in Brandon and left beaten and bloody to be found by his wife and young daughter. Knight denied any involvement but eventually admitted his guilt, taking pleasure in the sickening assault. With suspicions mounting against him at High Voltage, Knight faced Tatum's tag team partner and best friend Mike Angels. The battle of big men and former PCW Heavyweight Champions would see Knight once again suffer a loss.

On the flip side, Dixon returned to action, seemingly not missing a beat as he defeated Ludicrous and one half of the PCW Tag Team Champions Marty Labossier in a Triple Threat Match.

At PCW's Premier Cup 3 in June, Knight would once again fail to secure a victory, losing to Angels in an opening round match. Dixon would suffer the only blemish on his record in nine months as he and 'Tooth were unable to capture the tag team gold.

It was more of the same at PCW's Boiling Point in July as Knight lost to the returning "Red Hot" Ryan Wood and Dixon & 'Tooth avenged their prior loss with a DQ victory over the PCW Tag Team Champions. An irate Tatum attacked Knight and the two men brawled as the very personal war of words erupted both at the live events and on line. Tatum had to have some very serious threats of harm censored before they could be aired publicly and an intense Knight said his entire career rested on proving his worth by beating the Canadian Champion.

At PCW's Beat The Summer Heat on August 27th, Knight finally ended his 2009 losing streak in glorious fashion, engaging in a Match of The Year candidate with Tatum and forcing him unconscious in the final fall of a 2 out of 3 falls match to win the PCW Canadian Championship. The victory cemented his legacy in the mind of the "Outlaw" as he entered the history books as one of the few Triple Crown Champions and the man who ended the longest championship rein in PCW history.

Dixon continued to put himself into top contendership with a resounding victory over one half of the PCW Tag Team Champions and current CWF Canadian Champion Nate Hardy.

The Eighth Annual Back to School Bash on October 1st would set in motion the impending clash of titans as Knight secured his first victory as champion, defeating his and Dixon's former Tag Team Championship partner, JP Kaos while Dixon defeated the now-former Canadian Champion Chad Tatum in impressive fashion.

Dixon's nearly year-long singles winning streak was rewarded when he was scheduled to challenge Kenny Omega for the PCW Heavyweight Championship in a potentially career-defining match. Obligations to Ring of Honor forced Kenny to back out of the contest however, but Dixon would eagerly agree to face Knight's fellow Alliance of Defiance cohort, Anderson Tyson Moore. ATM was unable to fend off the rise to top contender status of Dixon as "Average Joe" proved to be anything but with an exceptional victory over the phenomenal ATM in an amazing contest!

ATM seemed to be in control, cutting Dixon off as he attempted his impressive Five Star Frog Splash. Moore went for his own jaw-dropping Spanish Fly, but the savvy Dixon utilized his superior leverage to slip out of the hold, resulting in ATM flinging himself off the top turnbuckle to the mat. One Frog Splash from the 260lb Dixon and the match was over. Keeping in the spirit of the Halloween event, Dixon had entered the ring wearing leather chaps, vest and cowboy hat, mocking Knight with a spot on impression. Post match, he said they had a lot in common. Both men were big. Both men were incredible wrestlers and both men had long streaks - Knight's a losing one and his own a winning streak going back nearly a year. Finally, Dixon pointed out, the last thing they had in common was that Knight was the PCW Canadian Champion and at Seasons Beatings, the "Average Joe" would be too.

Knight was out of town and not at the event though PCWaction.com is attempting to secure comments from him.

With utmost certainty, if any man has wrestled his way into contention it's Average Joe Dixon. Through sheer will and an inspired effort in every contest, Dixon has proven to be perhaps the best big man in the Province. He'll have his chance to erase any doubt in that statement at Season's Beatings as he faces a man he's beat before but who has dominated in recent months, shown a propensity for violence and has a resume most wrestlers would kill for.

While Dixon has been consistently successful, steadily working his way to this moment, Knight has seemingly turned a corner. His relentless pursuit of the PCW Canadian Championship demonstrated a singular goal with no concern for wins or losses, only a desire to batter Tatum psychologically and then physically and to ultimately achieve his goal of cementing his legacy. His actions in that pursuit and his alliance with Team Impact and "The Illustrious" Mr Brooks have shown a new aggressive attitude - its clear Knight intends to hold onto the title for a very long time.

Many wrestlers have vowed to be better, to win matches or titles or to do harm to their opponents and failed to impress. But since the moment Dixon promised the fans he would prove to them and himself that his career was not simply ten years of mid card comedy, he has been focused, determined and excellent. One must consider his success and give thought to the possibility of destiny influencing his rise to this moment.

For one year, Dixon has not lost a singles match. Over the same period, Knight has lost, but has been emotional, violent, determined and ultimately successful. Their paths have run parallel, intersecting at times but always seemingly in the same direction. To this moment.

Adam Knight vs Joe Dixon. A thirst for dominance clashing with a march of destiny. A turning point in the careers of both men. History and emotion conspiring to create a classic encounter for the ages. Knight vs Dixon - Season's Beatings. 'Nuff said.
