LOS ANGELES, CA - Kenny Omega is the new PWG World Heavyweight Champion following his sensational victory over Roderick Strong in the Battle Of Los Angeles Tournament Final! The annual tournament produced by Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has become one of the most respected and anticipated weekends of it's kind in North America. Omega adds the PWG title to his collection which currently boasts the Premier Championship Wrestling Heavyweight crown! The victory comes only one week removed from challenging Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries for his gold in a classic contest that ended in controversy when Aries was unable to put his young challenger away and Omega refused to quit leading to a referee stoppage. Entering the weekend, Kenny was considered by some to be an underdog in the tournament which boasted talents such as Roderick Strong, Alex Shelley, El Generico, Kevin Steen, Brian Kendrick, Colt Cabana and others. But the PWG fans gave him a rousing ovation when he entered the arena on night one. On Friday, November 20th, Omega faced Kevin Steen in an opening round match, defeating his fellow ROH Superstar. In the second round, Kenny beat Scott Lost. On Night Two, Saturday November 21, Omega defeated Joey Ryan to advance to the finals against the popular and ultra talented Roderick Strong. In a thrilling 30 minute classic, Kenny defeated Strong to win the prestigious BOLA tournament and become the new PWG World Heavyweight Champion and fully cemented his status as the hottest indy talent on the planet. Known to many as "The World's Own", Omega has more than lived up to that billing with multiple championships across the United States, Canada and Japan. The PWG title has truly become a World Heavyweight Championship as it has been defended in Japan, England, France, Germany, Australia, the US and other places around the globe. Winnipeg fans will next get to see Omega in action at PCW's Season's Beatings when the PWG titlist defends the PCW Heavyweight Championship against "Showtime" Robby Royce in a contest which fans have already picked as a Match of the Year candidate.
