Posted on 10 Feb 2010 by Jay Recap of Raw, always nicely done. Random useless Hornswoggle segment, always done horribly. I was impressed with the Guest Host this week. I won't remember his name a week from now but damn he was charismatic, he knew his timing on his promos to wait for the reactions, he knew when to get excited, he was one of the better hosts! Sheamus coming out to interrupt the host was nothing unusual, but Christian coming out was. It was a decent promo but had more burying of Sheamus. It was a good match, I have nothing to complain about as far as Sheamus's work and he's had some good matches for a newcomer. WWE Champion beats ECW Champion...that's the last time you're gonna hear that now that ECW is going back in the closet after it's been beaten and flogged by Vince. Makes Sheamus look strong by beating a top guy. Nice way to start Raw. Backstage segment with DX and Shawn has been gold in this entranced obsession with finding a way to get to the Undertaker for WrestleMania. Built up some great tension between the two and it looks as if DX is finally going to split up. I'm crossing for a full HBK heel turn which we haven't seen in 10 years...that's not even an exaggeration as far as his last run that counted. They show a segment of Batista beating down Cena after Raw went off the air last week. Question! How much of a hero is Cena to let Batista punch Bret, hold his arms back, let Vince trash talk and spit him in the face while everyone's chanting Cena's name? There was a good 10 minute interval probably where Cena could've ran down there at any point. But he waits until it all happens then comes out pretending to be a savior? Just saying, but I understand very much about wanting the end of Raw last week to focus on Bret rather than Cena. Next up we get another group with a lot of tension and it seems like Legacy is breaking up from within as well. Cody & Teddy are questioning who's better, Orton steps in and asserts himself. We get Ted Vs. Cena and Cody Vs. Orton tonight. Not too bad. Tag Team Title Match next and we get CM Punk with another promo. After becoming a stale act on SmackDown, Punk's character has brought it all back together and is looking like a very strong heel right now. Trying to convert Jared from Subway was hilarious, I was hoping it would've been done. Not too bad of a match, a basic tag. The one highlight was more tension building between DX and of course the winners... SHOWMIZ! I love the tag name, Miz was looking great and looks amazing with 3 belts on him. That's how you build a star. I can't say enough about Miz. If he were to improve his in-ring work, he's a future WWE champion. No doubt about it. He's a star on the show that people pay to see. Not bad for a runner-up in Tough Enough and host of the Diva Search. Up next, Gail Kim wins a squash match to add some very unnecessary hype to her match with Maryse. They did the tournament and should've just moved on from there. Million Dollar Man in the Hall Of Fame is announced and it's about time! We get Santino's funny segment of the week followed by Kofi giving a suggestion for next week and the Edwards agrees. Cena Vs. HHH, Sheamus Vs. Orton, Dibiase Vs. Kingston is set up for next week. Looks like a packed show of awesomeness! Orton Vs. Rhodes and I was surprised by the finish but intrigued at the potential here. Rhodes won but with Sheamus interfering and seeming to return the favor to Cody. Are Cody and Sheamus together now secretly? Wouldn't be a bad move for Cody, he'd be a good mouth piece for Sheamus too. Hmmm.... After that we get Cena Vs. Dibiase which is a no contest because Cena just beats the crap out of Dibiase after last week. I thought people usually get hurt after a huge beatdown and not just more pissed off? Meh, just basic Cenalogy I'm not understanding I guess. Cena calls out Batista...he no shows. Funny, half the other SmackDown and ECW roster was already there, why not him? Then he calls out Vince and he shows. Cena announces Bret wants one more match against Vince McMahon and Vince accepts. That's what I like to hear! Then Bret shows up...that's what I like to see! Bret gets a few shots in before Vince bails and backs out of the WrestleMania match...another great tease here! Bret then gets angry now that he's lost his match with Vince and starts breaking stuff that'll piss off Vince storyline wise. Overall it was a pretty decent Raw and WrestleMania is very unpredictable as far as the matches that are going to be on the card but the buildup has been pretty damn good. I honestly can't wait for next week...that's something most fans haven't been able to say about wrestling in a long time. Content Management Powered by CuteNews
