Walk The Line: The Junior Heavyweight Championship

Posted on 14 Feb 2010 by Jay

The Junior Heavyweight Championship created stars in PCW's beginning years. Everyone who held that title found success and had the most spectacular matches in the first couple years of the company.

With such a dignified legacy behind the title, Antonio Scorpio Jr. decided to throw it in the trash so many, years ago. And that title was locked up and footnoted as a moment in history for PCW. Until now...

Deciding to bring back that legacy to give our young stars something to strive for, I have brought back the Junior Heavyweight Championship! And this Thursday at Thunderstruck, there's going to be a tournament taking place with the hottest young stars in Winnipeg Wrestling! Who all qualifies for this tournament? Let's take a look.

Scott Justice is the definition of a superstar. Trained by the great Lance Storm, it has given him the tools to excel quickly up the roster and make his mark in PCW history. With huge wins over some of PCW's brightest like Antonio Scorpio Jr. and "Priceless" Chad Tatum, Scott is the biggest threat in this tournament to all the others competing. After a huge tour in Australia he suffered a small injury that lead to his downfall at New Year's Knockout but Scott Justice will be 100% come Thunderstruck and ready to cement his legacy by becoming the first Junior Heavyweight Champion in 6 years!

Prince Fuergo Jr. is a stranger to any and all PCW fans. He will be making his debut but I can guarantee from what I've seen, this guy is going to leave you begging for him to come back. He will be challenging Scott Justice and I believe will be a tremendous challenge for Scott, maybe his biggest to date. Fuergo's high-flying aerial assault mixed with his vicious kicking and striking abilities make for a lethal combination and he has been tearing up a storm in Mexico because of it. The question is...is he up to to the task of going face to face with Scott Justice?

"The Business" Johnny Falcon. A man who really does mean business here in PCW. I was looking for a new young star with some muscle power, a tenacity for pain, and a special look in his eye that meant he wanted to do some hurting. Falcon is the man who answered my call. Last month, he treated Chad Tatum like a ragdoll at some points in his match with him. He was throwing him around, slamming him down...business as usual. And if he makes it into this tournament he's going to pick the competition up like a baby and break them like a watermelon!

Nate Hardy is no stranger to not only the fans but success in PCW. Being one of the longest reigning Canadian Champions and being a multiple time Tag Team Champion, Nate is sure to be a favorite to win in the eyes of the fans. His death-defying attitude has had him jumping from the rafters in the ceiling and going toe to toe with the world's biggest stars. And with Lacey at his side, he'll surely be motivated to go for double gold and match that newly won Tag Team Championship. But you have to wonder...will that big nasty Sabertooth come and be a distraction with Nate's pretty little bimbo?

And what about Nate Hardy's fellow tag team partner/champion Marty Labossiere? In the 16 months that he's been an active wrestlers in PCW, he's held the Tag Team Championships for approximately 12 of those months. That's pretty damn impressive if you ask me. I know Marty well since we both started out as officials in PCW and I've seen his guts and determination when it counts most. Take for instance the TLC and Hardcore matches he's had with Robby Royce and ATM. But the problem is...Nate's not going to be there for a tag.

Who could forget about Chris Marxwell? Surely one of the most popular stars in this tournament who's really come along as a competitor in the last year. He gave it his all and nearly beat Kenny Omega last year. He nearly defeated Scott Justice as well in Scott's official debut match. He nearly defeated the Suicide Kings to get a tag team title shot with JP Kaos. Nearly, nearly, nearly. Marxwell's gonna have to actually win some matches to advance in this tournament. And is he going to be 100% after that vicious match with the Chees?

Speaking of the Chees...I guess they both qualify too. I've refereed some of their matches and they are cheating, nasty, bastards! Without "The Big Chee" Mike Arnott in their corner (or who knows, maybe he will still be there for them)...these guys have lit themselves on fire to try to win matches. The havoc and blood they spilled last month was huge and brutal. I'm sure that whoever they face if they're in the tournament...will spill more blood. But Scott's, Jon's, and Fuergo's faces will remain in tact, I can promise you that.

I heard rumors that Kory Kinkade is trying to drop weight to make it in for the tournament. If he makes weight...he's in. If not, PCW will find a suitable replacement. Well Kinkade...if you do manage to make in, good luck because you're going to need it! Have you won a singles title yet in your career? And you're gonna start now? Please. There's too much competition and I don't think you're going to be able to handle it. But again...good luck.

Sir Bradley Charles...SBC...Don't get me wrong, a hell of a competitor. He narrowly beat Scott Justice in his debut match too in PCW. But he didn't and that's the end of that story. SBC beat Anderson Tyson Moore...another hell of an accomplishment. And I'm sure SBC might be one of those guys who could make it to the finals...as long as Scott Justice or Prince Fuergo Jr don't get in his way. A hopeful...to make it to the finals, I'm not sure if he can win it.

And of course, Darien Karisma made his return last month, didn't he? I guess that means he qualifies too, huh? Well Karisma...I don't know you but what I do know is that I don't like you. You stand up for a man who was getting beaten down just because another wrestler was trying to make a statement. And where did it get you? Beaten down just like your friend Kory Kinkade! I've heard you're quite the athlete and in great shape, but are you a match for the far more superior athletes that I represent? I don't think so. I'm sure what we saw last month from the legendary EZ Ryder is just a preview of what's in store for you if you are in the Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament.

This already looks like quite the division shaping up around the Junior Heavyweight Championship I am restoring back to the dignity it deserves! Scorpio may have tarnished the legacy of the title by throwing it in the trash but...Scott Justice, Prince Fuergo Jr., "The Business" Johnny Falcon...they will be the poster boys of this division! And they will restore credibility, honor, and respect to the resurrecting championship.

I will see everyone on February 18th. It's going to be a hell of a night. Trust me.
